Helps create the atmosphere Essay The Swansong was choreographed by a man called Christopher Bruce in 1987 and was performed by 3 male dancers. Swansong may come across as violent because of the way the many different dance styles are carried out. There are many different types of dances used the main ones being: ballet, tap, ball room and jazz. The story is about a prisoner being bullied and intimidated by the two prison guards and eventually the prisoner dies as a result of the bullying. It is called swansong because the movements the prisoner uses are bird like movements and the fact that he is isolated and trapped like a swan. There are not many costumes or props but the t-shirts that they wore were to signal who they were, and the main prop was a chair. It was used in all sorts of ways, as a shield, a weapon and also a questioning chair. The music and electrical effects are vital because the music shows the mood and the lighting shows the sort of movement and setting. Section 1  The tap dance is the main dance used in section 1 because it is used as a question and answer sequence. The section begins in silence then the interrogators enter and begin to dance. By the end of the dance it turns out being a duet versus a solo. The speed changes throughout the sequence and lifts, balances and twist are applied. Also different levels are used as the interrogators begin to play silly mind games. Section 2  In section 2 the violence begins and there is a change in the music and the props are changed and used to more effect on behalf of both the interrogators and the prisoner. But something that was consistent throughout was that the interrogators continually questioned the victim by returning back to tap.  Section 3  In section 3 there is the first solo of the piece and there is lots of emotion delivered in the solo because the victim begins to show how upset and abused he is feeling inside. The lighting is shown as a symbol of freedom shining into the prison sell and the prisoner uses a lot of bird like gestures. Section 4  In section 4 the interrogators force the victim into dancing in a trio with them. But it is a trick as the guards are always in control and a dark atmosphere is created by the music and the interrogators actions. In this section the chair once again is used to create a different sort of effect.  Section 5  In section 5 the second solo is performed. It is done in silence to create a strange sort of atmosphere. Also the prisoner uses the chair in many different ways: as a safe heaven, prison bars, boredom, hope and a few other ways. The dance is performed in silence because it means that there isnt any music to do the movements and the movements are very much like bird movements Section 6  The bullying gets to its most serious because different weapons are brought in to the dance and huge crashing sound effects are used for the creation of the atmosphere. Repetitions of movements are used frequently and so are facial expressions. Eventually the victim is murdered and his spirit is set free and the lighting helps create the atmosphere.  Section 7  This is were the last solo takes place but it is exactly the same as the first solo, only this time with much more flowing movement as a symbol of freedom. Background The Napster software (http://www.napster.com), launched early in 1999, allows internet users to share and download MP3 files directly from any computer connected to the Napster network. The software is used by downloading a client program from the Napster site and then connecting to the network through this software, which allows sharing (uploading and downloading) of MP3 files between all users connected to the network. While Napster does not condone copyright infringement, there is no opportunity in the software to stop this, or for royalties to be paid to artists whose songs are being duplicated for free. Unlike similar file-sharing applications (Gnutella, Freenet), Napster limits users to uploading/downloading of MP3 files only. These files are compressed wave (.wav) files. The advantage of MP3 files is that they are approximately one-tenth the size of the corresponding .wav file and can be close-to-CD-quality. It is for this reason that many artists, record labels and other music industry stakeholders are concerned by the MP3 file format and applications like Napster that simplify the sharing of copyrighted material. Other file formats in common use on the Internet are not as threatening to the recording industry; primarily due to the reduced quality of the recording. Real audio (.ra, .rm) files have reduced sound quality (comparable to radio) and are usually streamed over a different protocol, allowing people to listen to songs without having (or being able) to download the source files. Another 'music' file format common on the internet is the midi format. These files are of no threat to the music industry because the files are not actually a recording of the music; rather a set of instructions to the computer as to what sounds to play (and there is no way to duplicate vocal tracks). This file format is also becoming outdated and being used less and less. 2. Impact The reaction from recording artists, record labels and other music industry players has been varied, but primarily anti-Napster. The first action to be taken against Napster was by the band Metallica. In April of this year, they sued Napster Inc for copyright infringement. The case was settled out of court when Napster agreed to ban some 300,000 users who had allegedly downloaded Metallica songs. Again in June Napster Inc was sued for copyright infringement by The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a trade group representing the US recording industry, alleging Napster is enabling and encouraging the illegal copying and distribution of copyrighted music. Napster claims that Audio Home Recording Act that permits copying of material for personal use, allows it's uses to swap MP3s. Napster further claims immunity by defining the company as an ISP under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. The RIAA unsuccessfully applied to have an injunction to stop Napster's operations u ntil after the court case in September, so Napster will continue to operate until (and if) the court rules against Napster. I am a very extraordinary cell indeed. Photosynthesis is the process which I develop. Every sunny day when I reserve water or consume water, photosynthesis occurs. The three main parts of this are for me to take in sunlight. I must be in a carbon dioxide environment because that is what I breathe. I also need water. These three things of matter are the necessary resources for my growth and expansion. Since this process uses sunlight, it is continually renewable, and thus the cause for all ecosystems. The process of photosynthesis occurs in my chloroplasts. The chloroplasts are large, complex, double membraned organelles. They also give the cell the color of green. Chloroplasts have their own individual mini-cells and own DNA. My chloroplasts produce oxygen and glucose as a byproduct which the mitochondria uses to produce energy in the procedure of cellular respiration. The mitochondria is like a power source to me. It takes the glucose and oxygen from the chloroplasts and batters it down to provide chemical energy or ATP. The chloroplasts and the mitochondria are both found in my cytoplasm. The cytoplasm is all things in me that are not an organelle. They are located just inside the cell wall and cell membrane. The cell wall provides structure and support for me. The cell wall is fabricated with a thin layer of cellulose. The cellulose is a polysaccharide made of many glucose units linked together. Just inside of the cell wall is the cell membrane. This part of my body gives an extra layer of protection and keeps things in and out of me. The cell membrane is mostly made out of lipids. The cell membrane is also permiable to water. Water can slip in and out of the cell easily through the cell membrane. This process is called osmosis. Within the cell membrane is my nucleus. The nucleus acts as a brain to me. It contains DNA and RNA which operate together to build and control the cell. The nucleus is a small tiny cell within me. It has a double membrane. The nucleus?s job is to produces proteins which a re carried by my endoplasmic reticulum. The nucleus has its own layer called the nucleoplasm. The Nucleoplasm is made up of proteins and RNA which help in the formation of ribosomes. The ribosomes are minuscule organelles which take RNA from the nucleus and produce it into protein. . Connected from the ribosomes are the endoplasmic reticulum. The endoplasmic reticulum is a series of membranes and is located in several parts of me. These are all scattered throughout the cell and always attached to the cell membrane. Also from the endoplasmic reticulum are the golgi bodies. They take protein and wrap them in a membrane. They are discovered all over me. Lastly in my body is the vacuole. The vacuole is an organelle with no internal structure. It works as a storage place for me. It is located in the center of me. Overall my cell is extremely complex with many parts. My model has tried to concur with it and resemble it as best as can be. MS Words Track Changes Program Ever get a document back from an editor that has tons of red or blue lines (maybe even some green ones), and have no idea how to get rid of them all, or view the document the way it’s supposed to look?   This article is for you! Why I Love Track Changes Microsoft Word has a very useful feature called â€Å"Track Changes† that keeps track of changes that an editor makes to a document, and allows subsequent readers to see what changes were made. When the â€Å"Track Changes† feature is turned on, anyone who opens the document can see every change made to the original document, whether to fonts, page formats, margins, and text. Track Changes also has a â€Å"Comments† feature that allows explanations and suggestions to be entered in the margins of your document. The value of Track Changes to me as an editor is that my clients can see what I’ve changed, and I can see the changes they make. I do not then have to go through their resume word by word to see what alterations have occurred. It’s also easy to accept or reject changes, without having to change individual fonts or colors. Gone are the days of manually inserting a strikethrough to indicate a deletion! The Dangers of Track Changes Track Changes can be troublesome too. You don’t want to send a document with lots of red lines and bubbles all over it to an employer or a school (many people have embarrassing stories of doing this)! The recipient then sees all the suggestions, changes, and possibly the original language and mistakes that needed changing. As part of proofreading and preparing the final draft of a resume, cover letter, or essay, take the following steps to ensure that you do not inadvertently send a marked up copy to an employer: Directions for MS Word 1)   Check to see if there are any comments or tracked changes in the document: Go to the â€Å"Review† tab and click on the window that says â€Å"Final Showing Markup.†Ã‚   Go to the â€Å"Show Markup† menu and make sure there are check marks in all the boxes (otherwise you might not see the comments or formatting changes when you look at â€Å"Final Showing Markup†) NOTE:   If the window says â€Å"Final† and you do not see any redlines, this does not mean they are gone! Make sure you are viewing the markups before determining that your document is clean. 2)   If you do not see any changes or comments and you do not make any other changes to the document, you’re good to go. 3)   However, if you do see comments and tracked changes, you can do one of two things: Change â€Å"Final: Show Markup† to â€Å"Final† and save the final document as a PDF. This solution works if the place you’re submitting your resume accepts .pdf files. For example, the emphasis in the ideal Utopian society may be in the theme of creating a model society but there is an underlying motivation by those who control the construction and organization of the city (Jameson 452). For city administrators, they will likely benefit from the organization by easing management burden. For those constructing the city itself, there are driven by the assumption that the Utopian settings will provide them limitless potential for expansion. This supports Richard Lewis' view that ideology is a practical means of defining society and delineating its identity from that of others (30). By channeling these ideologies in architecture, the ideologies are given concrete and substantial testament when they are adapted or shunned by other cultures. Constraints Karl Marx's view on ideology presented it as the ideas of the ruling class, that legitimate the rule of the bourgeois class, as a means of hiding the true state of social conditions such as oppression and inequality. He believed that these ideologies produced a false sense of consciousness and furthered bourgeois class domination over the disenfranchised in society (Goldman 71). In this way, ideology is structured as the foundation of the state of power in a society giving legitimacy to the action in support of the ideology. According to Ernst Bloch, one of the main dilemmas in the concept of ideology is that when it is "broached from the side of the problem of cultural inheritance, of the problem as to how works of the superstructure progressively reproduce themselves in cultural consciousness even after disappearance of their social bases".
